Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif"><B>SANDRA SPANNAN/JARVIS</B>,a
native German, is a painter, performance artist, actress/model and founder of
<B>see. painting, inc</B> (<a href="http://www.see-painting.com">www.see-painting.com</a>)<br><br>Born
1971 in Germany, Sandra Spannan studied art, design and art history at he University
and Fachhochschule of Wuerzburg, Germany and in different workshops, classes
and internships throughout Europe and New York.<br><br>She has lived
in New York for ten years and has been involved in various art projects and
exhibitions.<br><br>Some past <b>performances</b> include:
Participation in Vanessa Beecroft's first NYC performance at Deitch Gallery
in Soho; a Valentines day painting performance sponsored by EXIT ART Gallery,
NYC as part of the "Love a Commuter" project; the "power portraits"
in the 42nd Street Chashama Theatre window (the Oasis series) and the WTC memorial
"guerilla" mural/installation <b>"searching for sense."</b>
she created in lower Manhattan in October 2001 which is the subject of a short
documentary film of the same name. This film (produced by Sandra Spannan, directed
by Katja Esson) has been shown in several national film festivals, on Swiss
television, in a one month show in the Gallery space at "the Kitchen"
in Chelsea and was featured many times on Channel 13 and Metro Channel in the
U.S. <b>"pieceportraits."</b> is an ongoing interactive
live Painting performance in empty Store front windows in New York. She has
painted the faces of over 260 New Yorkers during this ongoing process, and is
planning on doing at least 500 in the year 2003 in other neighbourhoods, which
will be shown in an exhibition and published in a photobook eventually.<br><br>Her
<b>artwork</b> was shown in designer showcases and art exhibitions
in Berlin, Nuernberg, Kassel, Wuerzburg and New York.<br><br>In
1996, she designed and painted the large outdoor mural for the German House,
opposite the UN.<br><br>Sandra has been featured in various <b>publications</b>
including the "Esquire magazine"; "American Vogue"; Italian
travel/fashion magazine "Gulliver"; Honda catalogues, and various
other publications as well as independent films and the soap opera "Guiding
Lights".<br><br>Aspects of her work and life have been featured
in "Architectural Digest"; "Interior Design"; "Design
Times"; "Traditional Building"; "Woman's Day"; the
Japanese Shiseido ArtMagazine "Hanatsubaki"; "Paper" and
"Time Out".<br><br><b>German publications</b>
include "Berliner Morgenpost"; "ALEGRA Magazine"; "New
Yorker Staatszeitung"; "German Life" and several national and
local City Magazines, Newspapers, German Radio and TV Stations.<br><br></font></p>
